Urban Wedding in May
Christine and Andy's downtown wedding this past May was an incredible experience to be involved with. I got to know Christine and Andy over the run up to their wedding, first during an eventful engagement session with Andy scaling hills and jumping over ravines and rocky escarpments with such ease as frankly I struggled to keep up! When your spouse to be has this much energy I guess it's a good thing that Christine brings the "balance".
They are the perfect fit for each other and one thing I took away from the engagement session, was how easy it was going to be to photograph them on their wedding day. I don't think I've ever photographed anyone that was so natural in front of my camera and I would like to take credit for all of this, but truly when you are in love as much as these two are and being together is so easy and natural, everything else just falls in place.
So after sweating our collective asses off in an un seasonably warm November engagement session...well let's be honest I was probably the sweaty one! We hit it off and I knew this was going to be a perfect photographer/client matchup.
So back to the wedding day...
May 2018 was as usual unpredictable and you never really know what you're going to get. We did have some rain and there was a bit of wind, but that didn't dampen the spirits of the incredible couple and their AMAZING wedding party. One of the challenges as a wedding photographer is to win over the wedding party. You've already earned the trust of the couple by now, but you need everyone else on board for things to go just perfectly. Not only was this wedding party stunning to look at, but they were all very welcoming and kind and understood that there's only so much time to get all the photos we need and really, everyone just wants to get back to the venue to get their drink on!...however I think this wedding party may have gotten a head start.
Some alleys smelled like pee
We visited many of London's notorious after bar toilets, also known as alleyways. This did not phase the incredibly glammed up squad who actually seemed very comfortable in the alleys...I'm joking, but seriously I think most of the guys had been there before. If you can identify the graffiti on the walls, you have a story to tell.
One thing about downtown photos is literally anything can happen. The girls tried to pick up some firefighters and the guys were in search of the LCBO. UPDATE...I do not believe any firefighters were swooned away and the guys did find some alcohol!
Off to a great start
Christine and Andy's wedding was my first of 2018 and set the tone for the remainder of the season. Many fantastic and creative wedding experiences were to follow throughout the summer and still to come in the fall, but thank you for starting us off right and being the incredible couple that you are and I can't wait to see all that you will do do as an old married couple now!
